Fun and easy Valentines activities that focus on friendship and community? Yes please!!

1. Palentines Craft: students brainstorm ways to be a good pal. Then they make candy heart box with the names of all their classmates inside! Such a fun Valentines keepsake!

2. Candy Heart Incentive Chart: Help students stay motivated this week! Every day they do a great job reveals a candy heart with a message. When all the hearts are filled in, they’ve earned a Valentines celebration or treat!

3. Kindness Challenge: Every day, students pick a heart with a random act of kindness. When they finish their kind act, they add their heart to the display!

4. Friendly Notes: have students write notes to each other with kind things to say!

5. Kindness Chain: add a link to your chain for every kind act you see students do during the week!

This kindness challenge is so fun for February! Here’s how it works:

1. Students pick a heart each day that has a random act of kindness on it. That’s their kind act for the day!
2. Once they’ve completed their kind act, their heart goes on the bulletin board at the end of the day.
3. At the end of the week, you have a beautiful bulletin board and a classroom full of kindness!🥰

Here’s how I like to use it:
1. Talk about how our thoughts are often in “fixed mindset” and they make us feel stuck or inadequate.
2. Introduce “growth mindset” and talk about how we can notice our thoughts and flip them into a growth perspective.
3. Show statements from the bulletin board and have students sort them into fixed or growth
4. Leave the bulletin board up for students to see - refer to it during class and model your own thinking and how you can flip thoughts from fixed to growth throughout the school day!
