Self talk is SO important to help students develop a growth mindset. We can help students learn positive self talk through modeling, examples, and practice. ❤️

I created the Positive Self Talk lesson to help students understand positive versus negative self talk, and learn to put it into action. 🎉

It has whole class slides with discussion points, read aloud recommendations, a group activity, and an independent craft for students to apply these strategies on their own. 🫶🏼

I wish I knew my first year…
When students got upset, I expected them to calm down on their own. Spoiler: they couldn’t. But when you start teaching calm-down strategies step by step, things change. The difference? Students finally have the tools they needed to reset independently.

Comment for these free calming cards! These calming strategies card are the perfect visual to help you teach your students concrete strategies they can use when their bodies or emotions feel unregulated. Some ways to use them:
✨Post them in your calm corner as a clear visual with choices for students who need to take a break
✨Put them on a ring and carry it with you to take out whenever you see a student who starts to need support with regulation.
✨Choose three or four for an individual student to have at their desk as a reminder of what they can do when they start to feel like they need help focusing.
